Editing/Mentorship
Let’s work together to make your short stories, novel manuscript, or grant applications the best they can be!
I’m an award-winning novelist and my short stories have been published in literary magazines across Canada, in the United States, and in Ireland. I also edit papers for an academic psychology journal and teach an essay-writing course at Royal Roads University in Victoria, BC. Concise sentences, nuanced characters, and snappy dialogue are my jam! If you’d like a taste of what my writing is like, please visit my Publications page for a sample of my published stories that exist online.
When we work together, you’ll send me your writing and I’ll do a substantive (or big-picture) edit for things like plot and character development as well as line edits (for nitpickier things like word choice, voice, and grammar). I’ll send my edits to you as track changes in your Word document, and I’ll detail the big-picture suggestions to you in a separate Word document.
If we haven’t worked together before, I will do an edit of one chapter or up to 10 pages of your work for FREE to give you an idea of what working with me will be like.
Here’s what I offer
If you’d like to work with me in a less structured, and more ongoing way, please be in touch! In general, I charge $60/hour CAD for my editing services.

“It’s one hundred percent due to your pushing me to make it a better, richer story, encouraging me, being patient as I fumbled through it, and you believing in it as a worthwhile story to be told. Many, many thanks to you!”

“I’ve been slowly doing the third draft and following most of your comments. I’ve learned a lot working with you and I’m really thankful for you making it a much better novel.”
